We are a London based event equipment rental and technical event services company, usually found getting our rocks of at live music concerts or weekend raves. However we were blessed with the honour of supplying and overseeing the technical production for a wedding reception at the Landmark Hotel.

Such occasions require no less than perfection, so when a good friend, Wedding Planner Africa called us in and showed us what another firms had outlined her client we knew that we could exceed their expectations as well as bring costs down without affecting delivery. The venue hosting the receptionwas the Landmark Hotel on Marylebone, a stunning luxury Victorian hotel dating from 1899 which features an eight storey atrium under a glass roof and function rooms perfect for wedding receptions.
Ballroom ready, tables set, sound checked and awaiting guests
The function room for this wedding reception was the Ballroom. The elegant room required little decoration, so once tables were dressed and flowers arranged all that was needed for event mood lighting were wireless battery operated lights. We used twenty four Chauvet Well 2.0 LED uplighters around the perimeter of the Ballroom.
The Ballroom has three main sections evenly divided by the large marble pillars. The decision with central section of the room opposite the head table was to contain a white starlit LED dancefloor, white carpeted stage with the main front of house sound system and wedding party light display. The layout worked beautifully allowing for more tables to be positioned closer to the dance area, which was not lacking enthusiastic participants.

A six metre square white LED starlit dance floor was positioned in the centre of the room kissing the white carpeted six wide steps leading up to a six by four metre stage. We installed a six metre wide by three metre high truss goal post behind the stage, covered in white satin swags and drapes. Chauvet Motion Orbs suspended below formed a sympathetic backdrop in keeping of the rooms grand features rather than the outdated DJ star cloth backdrop. Each Motion Orb LED light is individually controllable offering pixel mapping for some stunning and unique displays.

The sound system hire was positioned either side of the stage in front of the pillars. The FOH system comprised of Flare Audio X3A and Q18 speakers powered by Lab.gruppen PLM amplifiers with Flare Audio V12’s as side fills for the dining tables to the far left and right of the dance floor. Shure PSM wireless in-ear monitors, Shure ULX wireless microphones and JBL PRX stage wedges all connected to and controlled by an Allen & Heath QU24 digital mixing console.

The wedding reception at the Landmark ran flawlessly with all the guests enjoying themselves to a late hour. For us it was another extended day with an early start and late finish but one that was thorough enjoyed, especially witnessing very happy newly-weds who were over the moon with the production.
