Frequently Asked Questions

These FAQs are designed to provide a better understanding of ACE Bros, our hire and solutions service. They provide basic information, sometimes about fairly complex topics. These FAQs will often link to more detailed information.

If you have any questions about ACE Bros that are not covered here or elsewhere on our website, please email

Q. Why should I choose ACE Bros?

We are confident that we provide the best quality sound systems in the area. Many of our competitors provide budget systems using poor quality loudspeakers, these systems may be cheap to hire, but the audio quality may leave something to be desired.

All of our sound systems are professional touring class systems, delivered, installed and operated for the duration of your event by experienced engineers. Our systems provide crystal clear sound reproduction at volume, with none of the harshness associated with budget loudspeakers.

We are confident that you WILL notice the difference and if sound quality is important to you, you will be glad that you chose ACE Bros.

Q. Does ACE Bros deliver & collect?

YES. Delivery and collection is offered along with installation and de-rig. We can deliver most systems nationwide.

Q. I’m having an event, which PA system do I need?

Call for a full break down. Let us know your budget and we will provide a quote for the best equipment possible for the money.

Q. How can I pay?

Cash, Electronic Bank Transfer or PayPal are our preferred methods of payment.

We also accept credit cards, debit card. Cheque or banker’s cheque will have to clear before any goods will be release for hire and use.

Cash on delivery is only possible if a deposit has been paid prior and an agreement has been met by the lessee and ACE Bros.

Q. Are the prices on your packages pages inclusive of VAT?

Yes, prices stated includes VAT.

Q. Are there any other costs involved?

If the job is too small and too far then fuel costs are charged by the extra mile. This will be outlined in our quotation for the job.

Q. Do you ‘Price Match’

We recommend giving us a call first. We aim to price match each item like for like. If you have been offered a comparable quality system, for what you feel is a better price, then speak to us and we’ll see what we can do.

We endeavour to provide our clients with the best equipment possible. Our clients are important to us, and we are sure that once you have experienced what ACE Bros has to offer you will feel that it has been money well spent.

Q. Can you match my budget?

We will always try to help when the budget is tight and can often recommend alternative cost effective solutions.

Q. How do I make a booking?

Email your requirements and details and we will get in touch as soon as possible to finalise with you. Or, alternatively, call us on our office number 020 8150 1890.

Q. How much notice do I have to give for booking?

That depends on your event. Booking earlier will secure all the equipment you require. We recommend that for weddings and special occasions you should book at least 3 months in advance as the nearer to the event it gets, the less likely we can find you what you want. However we have been able to organise equipment or acts with 24 hour notice.

We can’t promise miracles, but we will do our best to meet your demands.

Q. Will it cost me to book what I want?

This depends on the type of job and the equipment on hire. We request a deposit to secure the job. Full payment is required for equipment only hire. Other arrangements and agreements can be agreed for existing clients.

We may on occasion have to come and see you perform or ask for a demo tape.

Q. What happens if I have a technical problem?

We have staff on call 24 hours a day every day except Christmas day.

Q. How much sound will I need?

That depends on what you are trying to achieve.

We are able to provide systems capable of extreme sound levels, if you need a system for speeches and background music, then a pair of full range compact speakers will suffice. However, if you intend to make the dance floor shake, then you will be looking at a full range system comprising of separate speakers for the mid/top and bass frequencies.

Q. What is a PA system?

PA stands for Public Address. In other words, speakers, microphones & mixing desks which help project sound across a room or at an event.

Q. Will the neighbours mind?

If you’re planning a Dance music type event, it’s a pretty safe bet that the neighbours are going to hear what you’re up to. Bass frequencies travel a long way, even through walls. It is vital that you liaise with anyone nearby who may be affected before your event.

We aim to be responsible and avoid any complaints due to noise levels, but in order to satisfy all concerned, an honest appraisal of your situation will be required.

We endeavour to always work within local authority guidelines, and if asked by a council representative to lower the volume due to complaints, we will.

This does not mean that your event will have to stop, but a little forward planning can save a lot of stress on the night.

Q. I have a pretty good hi-fi, could I just use that?

We are often asked this, and the answer is categorically NO. There is a world of difference between Professional sound equipment and hi-fi equipment, when running an event the equipment is asked to provide extreme sound pressure levels (SPL) for long periods of time. Domestic hi-fi equipment is not designed to do this and WILL overheat during the event, causing a breakdown and possible damaging the equipment.

All our equipment is professional touring gear, it has been designed to operate at extreme levels for extended periods, and will provide you with the volume that you need with complete reliability for the duration of your event whether its 2 hours or 36 hours.

Q. I’ve heard people mention “k” in relation to how loud the system is, what does this mean?

The power of a sound system is measured in watts, “1k” means 1000 watts (or 1kw).

Measuring sound systems in this way can be misleading.

Another important measurement that is usually overlooked is the sensitivity of the loudspeaker. This means that not all systems with the same “k” rating will be the same. A system which is more sensitive will offer greater volume for the same amount of power.

A more sensitive loudspeaker will handle transients in sound faster and therefore reproduce the music more faithfully. All our systems offer exceptionally high sensitivity and are able to reproduce audio with clarity at much higher SPL’s than budget loudspeakers.

Q. What are your terms and conditions?

Please refer to our full Terms & Conditions page.

Q. Do you have public liability?

Yes we have public liability insurance which covers the equipment we install. We do recommend that you take out a short term events policy to ensure you are fully covered for any accidents or incidents.

Q. Can I be notified of any gigs, offers, events or new equipment?

YES. Contact us by phone or email leave your name and preferred method of receiving updates. As soon as there is something to share you will be informed. We also have a news page which we regularily update with whats caught our attention, events we have visted or are promoting and and other interesting news.
